Welcome to C.U.S.B.C.
C.U.S.B.C. is Cambridge University’s Small Bore Rifle Club.
Practice with .22 smallbore rifles takes place every week in Cambridge’s very own 25 yard range, the Queen Elizabeth Way range. C.U.S.B.C. is a very social club, with weekly socials at the Hawk’s Club. Five Varsity matches are shot against Oxford in Lent term, with many members achieving half-blue status each year. Membership is open to all, and we especially welcome those who have not shot before. Fees are more affordable than most Cambridge sporting clubs, at £40 /p.a., excluding ammunition costs. Regular updates on day-to-day running of the club are posted to the Facebook and Instagram pages (below). Notices are also posted to the mailing list and Messenger group chat; to be added, please contact the Captain or Secretary. COmpetitions
C.U.S.B.C. is one of the most successful sporting clubs in Cambridge, winning the national Inter-Universities BUCS competition in four consecutive years, and winning every Varsity Match in the last five years. In honour of this success, the club was awarded the inaugural 'Team of the Year' award at the 2020 University of Cambridge Sports Awards.
We also have regular matches against other universities, schools and local clubs, in particular during Lent term. If you would like to arrange a match against your club, please contact the Match Secretary. |
Social Events
Socials are held weekly on Fridays at the Hawk's Club, from around 19:00 until the early hours of the morning.
Membership of the Hawk's Club is not necessary in order to attend. All members are strongly encouraged to attend socials (even if your attendance at training is less than regular), as it is an excellent way to get to know the club, and become more involved, especially for new members. We also hold a range of pub crawls, dinners, swaps and other social events throughout the year. |
